As well as our extensive and exciting program of open gardens, which can be found here, Australia's Open Garden Scheme also has an exciting range of Special Events throughout the year.

Some events require pre-booking and as numbers are strictly limited we urge you to book well ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

Rare Beauties at Camellia Glades
Gosnells

Camellia Glades, one of Western Australia's finest camellia gardens, is the home of Craig Kircaldy, Vice President of the WA Camellia Society and all-round camellia expert.

The garden rooms are jewel-like with their plantings of rare and special camellias, including dozens of sasanquas, japonicas and reticulatas. Azaleas, roses, bulbs and annuals add further colour and interest.

At 11am & 2pm each day, Craig will talk about the successful growing, propagating and grafting of camellias.

Young garden designer Ben Mitchell has created an excellent sustainable dry verge garden at his home in Melville.

Ben's speciality is the installation of sustainable gardens using edible and native plants, and his verge plantings combine these with recycled objects in creative informal spaces.

Join Ben each day at 11am & 2pm as he offers advice and tips on setting up verge gardens, creating frog ponds and attracting local fauna to your garden.

A series of three exciting hands-on workshops with Pat Poynton in her exceptionally beautiful Secret Garden at Margaret River.

Designed by Paul Bangay, this classic European-style country garden has strong design and superb plantings.

Pat and her team will take you on a guided tour and provide seasonally tailored workshops with information and tips on how to achieve similar results in your own garden.

If you've always wanted to own a couple of chooks and wondered how to go about it, join horticulturalist and poultry consultant Debra Pearson for an informative and fun workshop in a lovely private garden.

Debra will advise you on the pros and cons of various breeds, and how to choose those suitable for your requirements.

She'll offer advice on the care and proper feeding of your chooks, how to select a comfortable henhouse, and all the other tips you need to have happy, healthy laying chooks.
