Sydney - Summer highlights
Opening Details

An exciting range of inspirational gardens from the coast to the Highlands is opening in late summer and autumn 2010. Many gardens are focusing on gardening for living with sustainable and family friendly features, vegetable patches and outdoor entertaining spaces.

13 & 14 February

Kebun Sembunyi - 3 Culbara Place, Allambie Heights. A peaceful terraced garden with paths meandering past a wide variety of tropical species including bromeliads, cordylines, hoyas and palms surrounding Balinese statues and koi ponds.

20 & 21 February

McCarthy garden - 13 Knox St, Clovelly. Artistic flair and a plantsman's touch are displayed in a small lush elevated coastal garden. Sub-tropical species spill over steps, walls and from pots in an informal courtyard. Ferns contrast with colourful strappy foliage plants. Entry $5.

27 & 28 February

Waterfall Cottage - 90 Cabbage Tree Rd, Bayview. Featuring towering Australian rainforest and exotic species sheltering extensive winding paths and bridges. Sculpture and water features reflect owner Jeanne Villani’s artistic flair. Entry $7.

Admission to all gardens is $6 unless otherwise noted.

McCarthy garden

Northern NSW
Opening Details

The Northern NSW programme will recommence in March with some delightful autumn gardens.

20 & 21 March

Opening in conjunction with the Orange Garden and Outdoor Expo
Killarney Homestead - 41 Darley Rd, Nashdale, Orange.
Roses, lavenders,  daisies, bulbs and many other cottage favourites in garden established on 'no dig' principles surrounding Federation homestead.

Timbertop - 957 Cargo Road, Nashdale, Orange. Autumn highlights are collections of maples and dogwoods in this lovely cool climate garden, successfully combining exotic and Australian plants and graciously framed by venerable eucalypts.

Admission to all gardens is $6 unless otherwise noted.

Southern NSW
Opening Details

A selection of summer delights across the Southern NSW region provide an opportunity to relax and inspire following the festive season.

20 & 21 February

Ajoupa and Carringbush - 2 Pepper Place & 17 Forrest Drive, Jerrabombera.Two stunning Jerrabombera gardens Ajoupa features diverse plant selections in well-executed spaces for family living. Carringbush is a cool green oasis with attractive pond system with cascading water. $10 for both gardens.

6 & 7 March

Brownyn's Garden and Rob's Patch - 16 Kennedy Crescent & 5 Sturt Place, Denhams Beach, Batemans Bay.
Two inspiring examples of sustainable and edible gardening. $10 admission to the twogardens.
Bronwyn's Garden contains a wide variety of edible plants in constructed micro-climate. Winner of Keep Australia Beautiful Sustainable Garden Challenge 2008. Talks at 11am & 2pm each day.
Rob's Patch is a two-year old organic garden illustrating just what can be achieved in a standard backyard. Good examples of espalier.

The ACT
Opening Details

Open Gardens enjoy summer in the ACT, with a stunning and inspiring selection of gardens to visit.

13 & 14 February

Lawrence Garden - 1 Cussen St, Higgins. Sustainable garden of water scientist harnessing the interplay of natural rainfall, landscape and plants to address environmental concerns.  Talks at 11am & 2pm.

27 & 28 February

Thissildo - 34 Scott St, Narrabundah. Whimsical touches and an eye for detail combine in clever florist's garden including ponds and banks of succulents. Container-grown plants include aeomiums, kalanchoes, cotelydons, senecios and sedums.


Lawrence Garden

 

All gardens are open from 10am to 4.30pm, and admission is $6.00 (free under 18) unless otherwise noted.
